How to Make Bacon and Water Chestnut Appetizer

Water Chestnut AppetizerRhonda Parkinson
This is an easy appetizer to make. It tastes best if you use fresh water chestnuts, but canned whole water chestnuts can also be used. The exact amount of brown sugar and bacon you will need will depend on the size of the water chestnuts. For smaller water chestnuts, you may want to slice the bacon in thirds instead of half, to make it easier to wrap around the water chestnuts.

INGREDIENTS:

    16 fresh water chestnuts
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, or as needed
  • 8 slices raw bacon, cut in half*
  • 16 toothpicks
